One of three small paintings in a new series exploring nature. I am a keen gardener and have a great veggie patch where I grow organic products using my own home made compost. Nature has always inspired me in my art and I’m definitely transported whenever I’m out in my garden or walking the beautiful countryside where I live. My camera captures special moments ‘above’ ground - but how do I portray all that we CANNOT see, below ground? This is where the magic happens, and I love the way these paintings capture that for me.

Painted on top of what I call my ‘playgrounds’ – colours, lines of ink and charcoal loosely applied with no intention other than to have fun. Most of my paintings start out in this fashion. They are the product of random sessions painting with the music on and me in my reverie! Occasionally, some of them start to form into little abstract landscapes, as with these. And I let the results reveal themselves layer by layer.
