I started this little series, as with most of my work, with random mark-making on the paper, and added collage and layers of paint to create depth and interest. Look closely and you’ll see lots of textural marks scratched into the paint layers. I am drawn to the terracotta reds that peek out of the vase, giving it that ancient, well-used stone vessel feeling. If you love this painting, you may also love the other two in this series - Gwen’s Custard Jug and Barbados Bowl.
