This painting started off as part of a group of abstract paint studies of colour, and I loved them, however, the heat of this summer, and a late summer trip to Cornwall got me dreaming of beaches. So, in a moment of pure imagination, out came the palette knife - my favourite tool for creating richly textured swoops of paint, and my beach series appeared. It includes hidden coves, windswept dunes, views over the water, and this one… with the gaily coloured beach huts of childhood fantasies. I always wanted one - didn’t you?
