From Land’s End to John O Groats, the whole length of the UK, there are beautiful waterfalls to be found. I’ve not visited every one - but a fair few in my time. The memories of them have influenced many of my paintings, like this one. It’s no place in particular, and yet it’s every place! It’s the feeling you get standing, watching. The sheer force of nature, water gushing relentlessly down and down, plunging into the deep pool below. It’s listening to the mighty roar as it plunges headlong over the rocks, carving its own unique path over centuries. They say you never see the same river twice - it was never truer than at a waterfall.

A beautifully evocative painting of an imaginary waterfall, captured in loose and energetic passages of earth tone acrylics, ink and charcoal.
